BSG Unternehmensberatung St. Gallen is commissioned by the University Hospital (Director Paul Stiefel) to prepare an expert report on the subject of «Review of the entire complex of questions concerning the pressure chamber laboratory (DKL) in terms of performance, finances and personnel, considering alternative possibilities and health policy aspects»; the report is dated 4 January 1996.
1999
As of April, treatment of diving accidents in the pressure chamber laboratory of the University of Zurich is discontinued; patients from German-speaking Switzerland are now treated in Basel and Überlingen/Germany.
2002
The 5th edition of Albert A. Bühlmann’s monograph «Diving Medicine» is published with the support of Dr. Peter Nussberger and Ernst B. Völlm.
2005
Operation of the pressure chamber facility at the University Hospital Zurich is discontinued.
2012
Publication by Martin Rüegger and Dominik Schwarb «Berufliches Tauchen und Arbeiten im Überdruck» 1st edition June 2012, SUVA with the statement in the chapter «Decompression Tables» that the Bühlmann Decompression Tables qualifies as state of art.
2013
Judgement of the European Court of Human Rights Case of Vilnes and others v. Norway, 5 December 2013; the class action of professional divers against the State of Norway is partially upheld; justification insufficient occupational safety regulations; the judgement references a letter of 16 April 1973 to the University of Zurich and the reply letter of 30 April 1973 written by Albert Bühlmann on the state of science in Zurich regarding saturation dives up to 300 metres.
2016
Ordinance on the Safety of Workers at Work in Excessive Pressure put into force by the Swiss Federal Council on 1 January with reference to the recognised rules for safe work in excess pressure of SUVA (Article 3). Bühlmann Decompression Table are recognized as state of art.
